Here are reported all the weapons, items and keys obtainable through the game. They're listed in categories, with place and description.
N.B.: efficacy of healing items and number of ammunitions could change in relation of your difficulty level selected at the beginning.
Weapons
Handgun
The first fire-arm obainable for James. You’ll find it in the Apartments, room 301, in a red cart. Can shoot 10 bullets per magazine.

Shotgun
Great weapon for close distances, can carry 6 shells at the max. You can take it at the Hospital, second floor, women’s dressing room.

Hunting Rifle
A very powerful weapon, on all distances. Loading times are pretty long, and can contain 4 shells. Obtainable in the Prisons.

Wooden Plank
The very first weapon that James will equip at the beginning. Has some nails at the end of it. Will be taken automatically, in a cutscene.

Steel Pipe
Long and useful rusty pipe, you will use it very often. You’ll find it stucked in a car’s bonnet, at the Texxon Yard service station, on Nathan street.

Great Knife
Pyramid Head’s favorite weapon, placed in his own room, in the Labyrinth. The extreme weight of this kinfe makes it very hard to handle. Very powerful, but very slow at the same time, needs some practice to handle it decently.

Butcher (Maria - Born From a Wish)
Owned by Maria at the beginning of the scenario, this weapon will be more useful as you think, with its speed and medium damage inflicted.

Revolver (Maria - Born From a Wish)
With its 10 bullets, this fire-arm is obviously more powerful than the butcher, evenf if basic characteristics are the same of the handgun used by James.

Items
Health drink
A common medical drink that restores a bit of energy. You’ll find this item in the game about 40 times.
First aid Kit
Like health drink, this one heals more energy, but it’s more difficult to find through the game, about 30 times.
Ampoule
A phial with a liquid that restores a lot of energy and takes away the pain, making its user kind of immortal, for a few minutes. Very rare, 10 of this in the entire game.
Flashlight
A little poket torch that lights darker locations, very important in most situations, as well as attracts enemies. Apartments, room 205, on Mary’s dress.
Radio
A small radio that sounds static noises near monsters. The closer enemy is, the louder is the sound. You’ll find it with the wooden plank, in the same cutscene.
Mary’s letter
A sheet of paper with the famous “In my restless dreams...” writed on it. Already in the inventory.
Mary’s picture
A picture with Mrs. Sunderland, and Toluca Lake behind her. James carries it since the beginning, and examine it or not will influence the story.
Hangun bullets
10 bullets package for handgun. In the game we’ll find about 40 packages.
Shotgun shells
6 shells package for shotgun. In the game we’ll find about 30 packages.
Canned juice
At the end of room 107 corridor, we need it to free the trash can.
Coin [Old Man]
In the trash outside the Apartments, used to solve the Coins puzzle.
Coin [Snake]
Apartments courtyard pool, in the baby seat, used to solve the Coins puzzle.
Coin [Prisoner]
Room 109, Blue Creek Apartments, after Angela cutscene. Used to solve the Coins puzzle.
Angela’s knife
A normal kitchen knife, that Angela leaves to James. Check it to unlock the “In water” ending.
Bent needle
Hospital, women’s dressing room. You’ll find it examining the teddy bear on the desk.
Piece of hair
In the Louise box, room S14, Hospital. To use with the bent needle to grab the key in the shower room.
Dry cell battery
Alternate Hospital, room M6, second floor. Needed to recharge our flashlight.
Copper ring
At the basement’s basement, Hospital. Used on the hand of the woman craved on the door, third floor.
Lead ring
Day room, second floor, in the fridge. Used on the hand of the woman craved on the door, third floor.
Wrench
Obtainable when the “letter & wrench” is marked on map. Used at Rosewater park, behind the prayer’s statue.
Tablet of the Gluttonious Pig
After the first cutscene with Eddie at the Prison, on a table. Used to solve the Tablets riddle in the courtyard.
Tablet of the Seductress
Showers, in the Prison, at the end of the room. Used to solve the Tablets riddle in the courtyard.
Tablet of the Oppressor
Cell 4, first floor, Prison. Used to solve the Tablets riddle in the courtyard.
Wax doll
Cell 9, first floor, Prison. Used along the lighter and the horseshoe.
Horseshoe
Prison, in the courtyard, hanged at the door, you need to solve the Tablets puzzle to obtain it. Used along the wax doll and the lighter.
Lighter
At the sixth door after you get the rifle, Prison. Used along the wax doll and the horseshoe.
Wire cutter
After solving the Cube riddle, it cuts away the wires blocking the passage at the beginning of the Labyrinth.
Little Mermaid music box
Outside the LakeView Hotel, in the fountain. Used to solve the Carillon puzzle.
Cinderella music box
LakeViwe Hotel, after opening the locked siutcase in room 202. Used to solve the Carillon puzzle.
Snow White music box
LakeView Hotel, first floor, storeroom, when you carry no items. Used to solve the Carillon puzzle.
Letter to Laura
After entering the Hotel, in the restaurant, in a cutscene. It’s a letter written by Mary for Laura.
Can of thinner
Basement of LakeView Hotel, in the elevator. Used on the stripped picture to find the secred code to open the suitcase.
Videotape
Hall of the Hotel, reception. Shows the truth.
Can opener
Hotel, at the office on first floor, in a safe. Used to... open a can?
Lightbulb
After using can opener on the beans can. Light to James a keyhole in the Venus bar.
Rusted-colored egg
After defeating the two Pyramid Heads, examine their hand. Used to unlock the door of that room.
Scarlet egg
After defeating the two Pyramid Heads, examine their hand. Used to unlock the door of that room.

Apartments key
Found on a corpse, in Martin street, is used to unlock the gate of the Woodside and Blue Creek Apartments.
Room 202 key
Found in room 208, on the shelf. Unlocks room 202.
Clock key
Room 202, the room with butterflies. Opens the clockdoor in room 208.
Courtyard key
Room 307, after the Pyramid Head cutscene, inside the closet. Unlocks the door that leads to the courtyard.
Lyne house key
Found after solving the Coins puzzle. Unlocks the door of the room where Lyne, ipotetically, lives.
Employee elevator key
Room 208 Blue Creek Apartments. Unlocks the door that leads to the Pyramid Head first battle.
Apartment stairway key
The key that Laura kicked away, opens a way that leads to Blue Creek Apartments.
Dog key
In a dog house next to Jack’s Inn, is used on the Observation room door after the videotape cutscene, in the Hotel, to unlock the Dog ending.
Purple Bull key
Brookhaven Hospital, archive room. One of the key for the Louise box puzzle in room S14.
Lapis eye key
Room M2, Hospital. One of the key for the Louise box puzzle in room S14.
Roof key
Room S3, Hospital, third floor. Unlock the door to the roof.
Elevator key
Hospital, third floor, showers room, after using the bent needle whit the piece of hair. Unlocks the elevator.
Basement key
Alternate Hospital, room M6, second floor. Unlocks the basement floor.
Old bronze key
Found in Rosewater Park, behind the prayer statue. Unlocks the Historical Society’s entrance.
Spiral writing key
Bug room, Historical Society, sewers. Unlocks a fence that blocks a very deep hole.
Key of the Persecuted
After solving the corpses puzzle, unlocks the handcuffs and opens the gate.
Fish key
On a plate at the restaurant in the Hotel. Unlocks the door with the paper on it, at the second floor of the Hotel.
Key to room 312
Hotel, at the reception in the hall. Unlocks room 312.
Key to room 204
In a suicase, in the room unlocked with Fish key. Opens room 204.
Employee elevator key
Hotel, room 204. Unlocks the elevator.
Bar key
Boiler room, when you carry no items. Unlocks the Venus bar.
Hotel stairway key
Hotel, after solving the Carillon puzzle. Unlocks the third floor.
Secret Items
(obtainable from an extra game)
Chainsaw
Sadic and impressive weapon, not very powerful and noisy as well. Found in an extra game (or in a normal game at Easy difficulty level) stuck in a log stack, already turned on. Pretty slow, requires some practice.

Hyper Spray
Very useful item with infinite ammos, changes its peculiarities in relation of the ending obtained in the previous game. You can get it in the roulotte in Saul street. To learn more about its effects, go to the Secrets page.

• Damage: Depending on targets and color obtained.
Blue Channeling stone
Obtainable only in the Restless Dream or xbox’s Inner Fears versions, you’ll find this item at the beginning, on the floor of the bathroom. Needed to unlock the UFO ending. To learn about its use, go to the Endings page.
Book of Crimson Ceremony
An antique tome that probably speaks about holyness and special powers and skills. Necessary to get the Rebirth ending, you can find it in the Hotel, Reading room.
Book of Lost Memories
Found at the Texxon Yard service station. You can read some story of the town, and its strange and hidden elements. You have to get it in order to unlock the Rebirth ending.
Obsidian Globet
A steel cup from an old manifacture, found in the first room of the Museum of Historical Society. As the books, this is necessary to get the Rebirth enidng.
White Crism
Room 105, Blue Creek Apartments, in the kitchen. A phial filled with a white mysterious liquid. Also this, for the Rebirth ending.
